The original Walter E. Disney train was built in the United States between 1915 and 1928. Later, the train was taken to the southern jungles of Mexico’s Yucatan to haul passengers, sugar, hemp and jute. Disney found several trains in 1969, at which time the United Railways of Yucatan were using them to carry sugarcane. They were bought, disassembled and shipped to the Gulf Coast to be renovated and used at the Walt Disney World Resort. Today, the Walter E. Disney steam engine hauls Walt Disney World Resort guests in five open-sided passenger cars around the perimeter of the Magic Kingdom Park.
A train ride is a "must do" for us every time we go to WDW.
