Is anyone else doing anything special to combat the virus going around? We have stockpiled food and water, disinfecting wipes and sprays, some masks, hand sanitizer etc. We plan to stay home as much as possible. DW and I are in the so called "danger" category. DW is a Type 2 diabetic and we both have had pneumonia. Survived Viet Nam and a plane crash. Surely don't want to get taken down by a virus.
What are you guys doing to stay safe?

Not really. My mom brought me some mask, but surgical type masks won’t help. They keep germs in not out. Ant find hand sanitizer anywhere so I’m going to make my own. Going shopping at the Commissary on Tuesday. Other then that not a lot to do. Both of us in in the high risk category as type two diabetics and over 60. Stay safe.

Is everyone staying safe? We are staying home except for getting take out or drive-thru food at some of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. We have plenty of food at home, but we want to help the employees at those restaurants. Besides, I really like fresh French fries, clam chowder, fried conch fritters and fried green tomatoes!
Please stay safe and let us know you're OK.

Staying safe here! None of us are high risk but we are still taking precautions. Working in food manufacturing for the past 9 months has really prepared me. We were already doing lots at work but now have just stepped up the cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting to a super high level. We were planning on hiring more employees and had even been taking applications, but then decided to shut the plant to any walk-in customers and put hiring on hold. All of our current employees are so well educated about our processes that we don't feel it's safe to introduce anyone new. School is only online for Jared (which is really weird since they're culinary classes- they have to do discussions and watch the chefs lecture and prepare things, etc.) The restaurant he works at has gone to pick up and delivery only so they are rotating those kitchen staff when needed to work, but it's mainly the owner and his wife there all the time. Ron has gone to working 2 days on, 2 days off to cut down on the number of people there at one time. My weekend job has been closed for over a week with no idea when they may re-open, so it looks like my retirement is starting early! It was nice to be completely off last weekend so I could do a great deep clean at the house. You guys stay safe out there!

I did make my own hand sanitizer. Really easy. Since I don’t work anymore the only place I have been going is to get my allergy shots. Thankfully the rest of the family has jobs that are considered essential. Youngest is TSA and only 19 people flying out today. If they close it will be administrative leave so he will still get paid. Oldest is a manager at an office supply store that’s been considere essential and daughter as a mental health counselor has gone to telehealth I think it’s called. All on the computer. Hubby works for the VA and his department is needed. The state finally ordered a stay at home yesterday. Should have been done a long time ago. My older brother is a MD and said the worst is yet to come. Stay safe everyone.

Our local Publix grocery stores have set aside 7:00AM to 9:00AM, twice a week for disabled and elderly (geezer) customers. Since DW and I fit into those categories, we went grocery shopping at 7:oo yesterday morning. A Publix team sanitizes the regular and electric carts as they are returned to the area where they are kept. They use the Lysol sprays and wipes. There weren't very many shoppers at that hour, so we were able to find a well stocked store. We got bread, bagels, English muffins, ham steaks, milk, lots of canned goods, hand sanitizer and way too many cookies. And a cake. And some ice cream. DW even got me some almond M&M's. YAY!
Most of the people in the store were wearing gloves and masks. It seems that most people around here are taking COVID-19 very seriously. Even the gas stations have gloves available. Yesterday was our first day out in almost two weeks and, since we now have everything we need w e will be able to stay home for several weeks if necessary. I just wish our state (Florida) would mandate "stay at home" for everyone.
I hope all of you are healthy and staying safe.
