We had to evacuate a couple of days for the storm. When we came back home we had some small tree limbs and branches in our yard. One panel of our privacy fence was loose. No other damage and no flooding. I was worried about flooding because we live very close to the St. Johns river. We were very lucky. One neighbor had a tree down in her front yard, but no damage to her house or ours. We had no power for almost four days so our generator was really busy. We powered our kitchen fridge, a freezer, a window air conditioner in a master bedroom window and an assortment of small appliances. We had our Keurig, a toaster, a microwave oven, Kindle and iPhone chargers and a lamp. We had extension cords going everywhere. Our generator is a 7500 watt monster and it runs about nine hours on a tank of gas. I'm considering modifying it to use Liquid Propane Gas. Since we have a gas cooktop, water heater, fireplace and a 200 gallon tank buried in the back yard, we already have LPG available. I got tired of searching for gas stations that actually had gas available. I went to Lowe's and bought another 5 gallon gas can on Wednesday. I found a gas station and filled three 5 gallon cans. Two hours after I got home the power came back on. Anyone want to buy 15 gallons of gas? I want to have a whole-house generator installed but DW doesn't think it's necessary. Of course, she doesn't haul 30 pound gas cans at 4:00 AM so the AC will keep running.
How is everyone else? I hope you're safe and had no damage to your house.
