Yes it is true, we went to FL but not to WDW. We flew from scranton to Daytona Beach 11/12-11/15. A short but great trip. The trip was short b/c it was also up in the air until the end of October and it was our first trip with our DD who was 11 months old.
Flights - we flew US Air to charlotte to Daytona Beach. We stayed with my grandparents in their home in Daytona Beach. If you have never been, the airport is literally right behind the race track. from the skyway you could hear cars practicing/testing
Unlike any other trip I plan, this one had no plans. My DH and grandfather golfed twice, gram and I did a little retail therapy (got our christmas ornament of the year to commerate our trip and a dress for DD). We went over to the beach for an afternoon and some lunch. and we went out to eat. It was nice and relaxing and warm. my granparents have a nice open floor plan so DD loved crawling around everywhere and while we were there figured out how to open cupboards and drawers.
we ended up renting a crib and highchair from Sandy Andy's Rentals. Excellent business if anyone ever needs anything in the Daytona Beach area.
to travel with the car seat (Britax Boulevard 60) we purchased a luggage cart at Target. $40 and it worked great. heavy construction, folded flat so it fit in the overhead even on a small plane, and could handle the weight of the seat. one small bungee cord held it together.
The Britax was a tight fit on a small plane and DD's fee could hit the seat in front of us. Neither flight attendent asked us about the seat on the way down, on the way back both checked to make sure it was airline compliant. (it is written on the instuctions on the the seat).
Our little lady traveled really well. She was as patient as could be expected and loved watching Mickey on the ipad. The only problem was a crabby flight attendent on the way down out of Charlotte. She made a snarky comment when we had her out of her seat to change her diaper and in my rush I must have not adjusted it good b/c we had a leak when we got there. grrrrr....
oh and having breast milk tested for explosives is kind of funny too.
I am going to attempt to post some pics too .... once I figure it out.
