Hi everyone, we got back yesterday from our trip. First thing I have to say is, it was very, very hot (at least for my family) Here's a quick report: Left Philadelphia, PA on Friday 9/23 at 6:55 am and landed in Orlando about 9:30. We arrived at Caribbean Beach around 10:30 am. It was busy at The Custom House with a lot of people check in and out. We we arrived I walked right up, but behind me the line was getting long. Even tough I checked in on-line, I still was there for 20 minutes, they couldn't find my paperwork and then since I wasn't assigned a room yet, the lady made sure my requests were made. ( I wanted to be in Barbados building 15 close to the pool and walkway) After check in I went to bell service to be taken to the room, but the guy said since they were busy with check out, told me it would be faster to walk across to Barbados and for me to call later for the bags to be delivered to the room. I didn't mind walking over because it was a short walk, but I didn't like the fact that I had to call to have the bags delivered. We got settled in the room and then walked over to Port Royale for some lunch around 11:30. After lunch I walked back to call for the bags, they sent them over about 30 mins later. We all took a quick nap and headed over to Magic Kingdom for dinner at Crystal Palace. We ate dinner at 4:30 and then walked into Adventure Land to see the Fairies. After that we left and went back to CBR and walked around. We were in bed by 9pm. It was a long first day.
Saturday: We went to Hollywood Studios. We ran for Toy Story Mania and waited in line for 15mins and then for pictures with Buzz and Woody. The kids really liked it. After we walked around and ate lunch at 11:30 @ Prime Time and walked more. We left around 3 because of the heat and the kids were starting to get sick. By the time we got back to CBR the kids were sick with slight fevers and they were getting sick. We bathed them, gave them medicine and they were in bed by 6pm. They slept all night.
Sunday: The kids were feeling a little better so we headed over to Magic Kingdom. We took it easy that day because of the kids. We ate lunch @cosmic Rays around 11:30, did a few more attractions and left for our 5:15 ADR for Chef Mickeys. Even though they were not feeling 100% they still loved it. We were going to go back to Magic Kingdom, but they started to get sick again and so we headed back to the resort.
Monday:We did Hollywood studios, my daughters were feeling much better but my son was still getting sick. We ate at Hollywood and vine for lunch and did the attractions. It started to rain around 5:30. We got stuck in the down pour. The kids had the ponchos on and we had the umbrellas. We were going to wait it out, but after 15 mins standing under little coverings we ran to the bus stop, which was crowded. We chose to wait for the next bus. We got back to CBR and did a quick change and went to Old Port Royale for Dinner. Then put the kids to bed by 8:30
Tuesday: Finally all the kids were back to them selves with eating and not being cranky and not getting sick. We went to Epcot did a few attractions and had lunch at Electric Umbrella then we walked the World Showcase and left for the pool After the pool we went to DownTown Disney for Planet Hollywood did some shopping and then back to CBR
Wednesday: Went to Magic Kingdom for a few hours. Had lunch at Cosmic Rays again and then did some last minute shopping on Main Street and then back to CBR to enjoy the pool for a few hours. We went to DownTown again and ate at Planet Hollywood because the kids liked to see the movie stars. After dinner we went back to CBR to get packed and ready for Thursday morning.
Thursday: I was up 5am to have our luggage taken to Custom House for the Airline check in. I wanted to beat the crowds. My wife and kids stayed in the room sleeping while I checked the bags and check out. When I got back to the room around 6:30 everyone was starting to get up. They all got dressed and we walked to Port Royale for breakfast and then back to the room to watch a little tv. Our van picked us up at 9am and we arrived at the airport around 9:30. The security line was long and by the time we got through security and to our gate it was 10:15, our flight was for 11am. I felt rushed. We arrived home in Philly around 1:30 and started to plan another trip.
It was not easy dealing with 3 sick kids while away from home and in the heat , but we did our best. We noticed a few parents giving the kids medicine. That's why we just took it easy a couple of days and let them take turns sleeping in the double stroller.
The lines for some of the attractions were not very long. I think the longest we waited was 20 min for Toy Story. I walked right on Splash Mountain and Thunder mountain twice. The lines kept moving. We also didn't have to wait for the buses either and they were not crowded for us. We tried to be the crowds by leaving really early for the parks and then leaving early for the resorts.
Did I mention how hot it was. It was very hot. I was hot from 6:30am until we went to bed. I don't think I could do Disney in June, July, August or September. They must make millions on bottled water and drinks. Everything was so expensive. They had a case of water at the resort for $18. I can 4 cases here at home for that amount. We were going to do a store stop to get water, but by the end of the day it would gave been hot water since we didn't have a cooler. Next time we will be prepared.
I did my best on the trip report and sorry if I went on and on. But we had fun and plan on doing again!!
