thinking about sydneys post got me thinking..and of course i am always thinking about our military serving overseas I had a thought... i know it might sound silly but.... what do you think of magical trips sending a box of stuff to some overseas outfit. i am sure we can find some soldiers/sailors etc ..a small detail...and we can work on it for a few months to get a few items collected anyway...one person could accept the donations... gifts or money to buy stuff... and then be responsible for getting it in the mail.. i know we dont usually do stuff like this but i noticed at work, church etc there was so much being done in the beginning but it seems like economy or forgetfullness or just to busy but i dont hear of any collections any more.. i know they just asked for stuff like deodorant, lip salve, candy, playing cards, puzzle books phone cards etc... we can work on a list later too... i tried to get my crime watch group to do it but they thought it was corny too it just seems to me that we could never do enough anyway and i am sure the military guys would love a surprise in the mail... any suggestions.... sound too impossible?

It does sound like a great idea! I was just looking at AnySoldier.com and there are guys/gals deployed from all branches that are volunteering to be point person to receive gift boxes and distribute them to others in the command who aren't receiving much mail. Here are the FAQs: www.anysoldier.com/FAQ.cfm

wow guys thanks for responding.. like i said, there are many ways we can do this... donations (no mailing fees) and just have one person pick up the items (although more work for one person - unless we have 2 people who live close together to shop) or we can all pick up items and mail them to one person with a few dollars to cover the shipping the total collection .... i am open to anything... just excited we are doing something
