Even though our trip is over, I am still looking and reading about all things Disney. The one thing I am reading a lot about is requests for dinning, which we had no luck. I asked our servers if my son,who is a very picky eater, could have a plain piece of grilled chicken or even a small steak because he was getting tired of chicken nuggets everyday for lunch and dinner. They said there was nothing they could do. It's not like I was asking for something not already on the menu. They had chicken and steaks on the menus. Another request we had was for vegetarian. In 2012, when we went to Tony's in Magic Kingdom, my mom asked for vegetarian options and the server explained the options to her and also asked the kitchen. The server said they could make her a alfredo sauce with pasta and vegetables, which was so good. She asked the server on this trip and she said what ever was on the menu and she could get an adult size of the children pasta, she never asked the kitchen. So I guess it depends on your server ? Anyone have experience with this?

They should definitely be more accommodating than that. My family doesn't have any food issues, but I did the Princes half last year with two friends - one who is allergic to shellfish and one who is a vegan. We found the restaurants to be very accommodating. In your case, I may have asked to speak to a manager. There shouldn't be a reason that your requests couldn't be accommodated.

Were you on the dining plan? I've heard that children on the dining plan are limited to what's on the children's menu.

We were on the dinning plan. It all worked out in the end, he ended up eating from our plates and we all picked at his chicken nuggets.

I think its weird...since all over the disney sites the push the "will cater to your dining issues" ... i would check on it before your next trip...anytime i have asked for anything...substituting veggies etc... i have never had a problem.... but things change ...constantly there

If grilled chicken was an option on that particular children's menu, all would have been fine, but with the dining plan, a child can not have their child credit applied to an adult menu item. From Disney's site regarding the dining plan: "Guests ages 3-9 must order from a children's menu where available"
