I did for a while, then stopped.. started up again looking for old Disney movies i dont have. anyway, long ago, when i first started going to WDW i started buying the Birnbaum guides to WDw. anyway long story short, lent out a few that never found their way home. 1994 my first trip was one i decided to replace...just to be able to see what has changed over the years...and prices from then to now anyway bought a few things... ordered a 1995 book that never arrived. was due by today. what makes me mad is twice i tried to contact to ask if it was at least shipped yet and got no response.. so i "filed a claim" although i dont know what that will do... i would really like the book.. oh well.. so, has anyone ever had to FILE A CLAIM... if so , what happens now? thanks..

I'm assuming since it is old you bought it used? Big question was it used and fulfilled by amazon or was it fully through an independent used seller?
if you bought it through the used marketplace, then you need to contact the seller to find out where your book is. If it was fulfilled by Amazon however, you should be able to look under your orders in your account and find out where it is. Did you wait until 3 days after your estimated delivery dates to file the claim? As long as it is past the estimated delivery dates and if you cannot contact the seller, then Amazon will most likely refund your money for you.

I have dealt with them many times. I never had issues receiving a shipment. I did have to make returns on faulty products in the past and found them to be very good to work with.
When you go into your account, do you see that it was actually shipped? If shipped through UPS, Fedex or USPS, can you track it through their website as well? There is a claim section, which I used to report the faulty items I received and they responded promptly. In my case the product was NEW, not used, but provided by an outside vendor through Amazon. I dealt with Amazon when making the returns.
I hope that you are able to resolve the issue.

Used products are sold from other business or individuals and have little to do with amazon's actual sales. Unless it specifically states in the description that it is fulfilled through Amazon. Since estimated delivery date was yesterday, I'd give it a few more days before you try contacting the seller and/or Amazon again. If it does not ever show up, Amazon should refund your money even though you bought it through one of their used sellers per their guarantee. Hopefully it will show up in the next few days though.

DD bought a book for an online course last summer and had the biggest problem with them Three weeks after the due date she still hadn't recieved it, by this time class had started she needed that book. A call to them produced the book in a week. Never again.

that's sad! I have to say DH and I use Amazon and the used marketplace all the time and luckily haven't ever had anything not arrive (actually we usually have things arrive before the estimated delivery date). We just started using the used marketplace a lot recently and so far, so good. But I won't buy anything from anyone unless they have 99-100% positive feedback.

I actually sold many of my old college books on Amazon, but have also purchased a pretty decent amount. Luckily (knock on wood) I never had any issues with books not arriving! I'm sending Pixie Dust your way that your book comes soon!

I've had issues with them. I've had partial shipments sent. Not sure how you can sell a book you really don't have, new btw.

I was just thinking. I have been a seller on Amazon as well. Sold DS's textbooks (and possibly DD's too, but can't remember). I was always so concerned and worked hard to get the books to the PO the next day - for just the reasons you guys are describing. I remember dropping a book on the way to the PO once - I didn't have a large enough mailer, so I was buying one there. Dropped it and the binding pulled away from the front cover. I emailed the seller before sending it to be sure she still wanted it (the pages were fine and the cover attached, it was just separated at the front binding point). She said yes, no problem, but then gave a strange comment in the feedback area. Commented on the book being not as described, but then added a narrative of what happened and her option to cancel sale. If you only looked at the rating and not the comment, you wouldn't know the "real" situation. Anyway, I am a user and believer in Amazon, so I hope things work out for you, Susan.
