We have stayed there a couple of times and really liked it although POR is my favorite moderate.
We stayed in the Casitas section both times and it was our favorite because of the proximity to the main building and just the ambience. There are fountains everywhere, and I find it to be very serene and calming. It is a bit of a walk to the main pool from the Casitas, but not really bad. There is a quiet pool in this area that was rarely used while we were there so that's a nice alternative. There is also a very nice fitness room which was one of my favorite perks to this resort. We attended the marshmallow roast and activities at the main pool and really enjoyed them.
I love the way the whole resort is set around water - it is a beautiful setting. It is nice to just walk around the lake. The rooms are also beautifully decorated and have actual doors separating the bathroom from the bedroom instead of a curtain. I loved this because it really allowed a lot more privacy and blocked the bathroom noises out better.
My least favorite part was the transportation because the buses just seemed slower there than at POR. Of course, transportation at any resort can be hit or miss so you may have a completely different experience.
All in all, we really like the resort and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I think you will really like it.

Cool, thanks! We drive ourselves around for the most part so transportation shouldn't be too bad, but I do recall how those internal loops can be.
Now I wonder which type of building we'll get.....

We LOVE Coronado Springs! Here's a site I found years ago that even has a forum to answer all your questions- very helpful! http://coronado_springs.tripod.com/
On a similar note, thanks for mentioning the military discount!!! I had been checking every few days, and it figures I hadn't since Sunday cuz I've been so busy. Now I have a dilema, which I've started a post about...

Jennie, I think ya'll will really like this resort. I was going to tell you to look at pics I've posted, but forgot that my photobucket account got messed up so they're not showing anymore. Susan and Christina have some great ones though under the resort photos section. We first went in Oct. too, and the buses weren't a problem. Sometimes I think it's the time of year you visit. All three sections are gorgeous, and we've stayed in Cabanas and Rancheros. Kaity is at an age where she'll enjoy the resort too. The Dig Site area has a great playground and the pool and slide are terrific. Even the quiet pools are nice. The fitness club is right by the quiet pool in Casistas. Having queen beds in the room is a plus, and like Cris said, the sliding doors in the bathroom area makes for privacy and quiet- I could shower and get ready without even waking anyone else. One thing I forgot- and I think it might be WDW resort wide- they are in the process of replacing fridge's, so if you want one you must request one ahead of time. If they are unable to provide you one, they will compensate you monatarily. I hope that site is helpful too.

It is really beautiful, especially at night. The kids and I think the pool is up there as one of the best on property and the playground at the pool is fantastic! We also love Pepper Market and make a trip over to CS almost every time we are at WDW to eat. The rooms are very nicely decorated as well. I think you'll love it! It is a walk to things, but it's a beautiful walk!

We've stayed at Coronado 10 times and have had near perfect visits each time except for the last time. And that had nothing to do with the resort, but with the clientele--the Pop Warner people! It is a large resort, but we've had longer walks at AKL/Kidani. The pool is great; there are three quiet pools, a great playground for kids, sand volleyball court, good food at the pool bar. The only negatives I can think of is you can only refill your cups at the pool while open (11 to 7) and then at Cafe Rix. Even though we no longer have younger kids, it is great having the sliding wood doors so you can get ready in the a.m. while the kids are still sleeping (this was good for us in December as we had some privacy with having our oldest son and his girlfriend with us in the same room).

We've stayed there a couple of years ago. I have to say this is the most under rated property in Disney, I think it has Deluxe feel with a moderate price tag. Rooms are big and clean, grounds are very well kept. Food court is as good as we've ate at, works differently to others, you get a card that's stamped with each meal you get, salads etc are made up fresh in front of you. Transport was like every other resort, some times it was like the busses were only put on for us, other times it seemed like every other park got 2 busses while we waited for ours. To sum up, I would say book, you won't be disappointed

My DH and I stayed there about 5 years ago but only for 3 days. We had to cut our trip short due to a death in the family. I thought the resort was beautiful, but very large. Didn't spend any time in the pools. We did use the bus system (we also use the buses) and it wasn't bad, but the internal loop can be a bit long. Had limited food court experience, but it was positive. Remember getting a treat from the bakery on our last day. I like FQ for moderate resort choice, but I was comfortable at CSR. I am sure you will like it!

Thanks, y'all! Glad to hear it so universally well-reviewed!
Now I just need to learn more about the running trail. POFQ was gonna be so easy---run around the resort and then the trail connecting the two.

Awesome! Thanks! Good to see it's more than just the lake loop! Less repeats for any long training runs I might have to do!
