Friday 12/28/12 Day 8
We started late and ended early today, but had a nice day anyway. Around 3 pm we got the bus to Epcot, but not with the intention of entering the park. We wanted to ride the entire monorail loop today, so that meant Epcot to TTC, back to Epcot, back to TTC, onto the express monorail, and all the way around to the Magic Kingdom. Later we would complete the loop by taking the resort monorail from MK over to the Polynesian. We saw all the monorails that were out today (which I make up nicknames for): Pinky Tuscadero, Stormy (gray), Villain (black), Sunshine, Orange Slice, Kermit's Key Lime, The Avengers, and Goldie Hawn. Blaze (red) and Prince (purple) must have had the day off today. Mickey humors me during the monorail loop each trip, and for that I am so grateful. I never tire of making the announcement to stand clear of the doors, I do it in both English & Spanish every single time.

When we finally arrived at the Magic Kingdom, Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas Parade was just coming down Main Street. We stopped to watch and even got to see Santa himself!
We shopped along the right hand side of Main Street today instead of at the Emporium shops like we've done for the past couple of visits. Mickey found a nice iPad case in one of the stores, but we thought we would be back later tonight so we didn't purchase it at this time.
We headed back around the Castle and walked right on into Philharmagic with no wait at all. As anyone who's ever seen this knows, it is a delightful show, enjoyable every single time.

As we headed toward Tomorrowland past Winnie the Pooh's attraction, we saw security escorting Tigger and Pooh Bear himself to their meet & greet station. They were adorable! The line was really long to meet them. I have a student who is diagnosed with severe autism who is a HUGE Pooh fan, and he would've gotten a big kick out of seeing a pic of me with Pooh Bear. Hoping to be able to do that for him sometime.
We headed down to see if fast passes were available for Space Mountain later tonight, but they were all out by 4 pm, which we were thinking might be the case. There was a bit of a line for the Peoplemover, which I still call the WEDway, but it moved quickly and we were on in 5 minutes. We put our feet up and enjoyed the tour of Tommorowland, which was as crowded as it usually is on 4th of July. We hadn't seen crowds like this before Christmas, but its busier & busier every day since the 25th.
After Peoplemover we got Fast passes for Buzz Lightyear for later. They included "surprise" fast passes for Carousel of Progress, which is hilarious. We dashed through Tomorrowland Terrace and right down Main Street to the resort monorail. Disney Research asked for my email address so I can do a survey for them from home. Yay, I love to help Disney Research!
We were 40 minutes early for our Ohana reservation, so we had cocktails at the Tambu Lounge. I had a couple of Kona Longboard Lagers, and Mick had Vodka with Pomegranate Juice. Our meal was FABULOUS. I had forgotten how savory and delicious the food is here. I loved the chicken and the pork the best. The dumplings were flavorful but a little too chewy. Mickey loved the steak and shrimp the best. The Bread Pudding ala Mode was the best dessert of the trip, hands down. Even Mickey loved it, and she is not a bread pudding fan at all.
After dinner we had a nice 10 minutes or so out on the Poly Beach, watching the Castle change colors and just relaxing on some beach chairs. And then the skies opened up so we headed inside. We quickly changed our park plans to let's go back to the room plans. On night 7 this didn't bother us a bit. We found the iPad case Mickey wanted at the Poly gift shop, so we picked that up before heading home.
