When I awoke I posted TODAY IS YETI DAY on my Facebook wall. Little did I know just how much Yeti the day would entail. Today we got moving rather early for us on vacation. We were up at the bus stop by 11:30 am and on our way to Animal Kingdom by 11:45. A big thunderstorm was forecast, but wasn't supposed to last too long, so I thought our timing would be just fine. We were a few minutes late for our ADR at Animal Kingdom's Rainforest Cafe, but no problem there. We were seated right away. I ordered raspberry iced tea, Mickey ordered Sam Adams Winter Lager, and we shared the Awesome Appetizer platter for lunch. It was good and we enjoyed the fake thunderstorms even as the real ones outside were cranking up. When we finished lunch it was raining buckets, so we shopped at RFC for about 20 minutes.
We ponchoed up when the rain got down to a drizzle and we headed off to Anandapur to visit the Yeti. We went the long way, circling around past the Drink-Walla. Got my pic taken there just for my sister Sandi.. she LOVES the Drink-Walla. Standby was only 20 minutes, so we grabbed fast passes and hopped in the standby line. Single riders woulda been quicker but we wanted to ride together. I found the Hidden Mickey in the standby queue, but forgot to take a picture. We had a great ride. I love how smooth this coaster is, and how comfy the seats are. Disney needs to update some of their older rides to match this kind of ride experience. While Mickey shopped in the Yeti store, I dashed off for ride #2 via the single riders line. I was on in 3 minutes. The kid next to me had bad anxiety and said he needed his medication, but he did fine on the ride.

When I returned from my solo trip, we decided to use our fast passes and ride together again. (Insert impending doom music here). We were seated in row 3 and off we went. but this time, as we climbed the big hill, when we were almost under the arch, the ride just stopped. Completely still. There we sat. It was sunny by now, so we laid back and enjoyed, looked around, chit chatted. Heard an announcement to stay still and wait for assistance. 5 minutes later heard the same announcement again. Called my sister to report that we were stranded. Then Doogie Howser (wait until younsee his picture, if you didn't already see it on Facebook. Totally Doogie) showed up to rescue us while I was on the phone with her.
He released our harnesses and out we climbed, one by one, which was kind of dicey on the steep incline. I was glad the kid with the anxiety was not next to me this time, he woulda been a mess. I snapped pictures of our hike back into Anandapur, which included many climbs and descents. It's further than you think when you're out there! I found myself a little jealous of the people at the highest point inside. Doogie said they got to see the inside of the mountain lit up. Lucky! When we got back to the station they gave us a re-entry pass good for the rest of our trip, which was cool. We headed over to the Drink-Walla for a frozen coke and a breather. We found a nice little shack out back and sat on the stools to sip our drink. I called Sandi & Mom to report our adventure. I was almost as excited about this as I was the day we won Dream Fastpasses for the day in AK in 2008. Animal Kingdom seems to have some special magic for us!

Next we were off to Africa for a ride on Kilimanjaro Safari. We stopped to play the drums at Muziki, which was really fun. Standby for Safari was posted as 40 minutes but we were on in 15. This was one of our best safari rides ever. Everybody was out & about. I even got video of a white rhino walking right beside our jeep. That was cool but slightly frightening, since I could see a dent on his horn which could've been made when he poked a jeep with it! The lions were chasing each other when we got to Arusha rock. The female started roaring and the male took off like a big chicken.
After we got back to Harambe safely, we watched Mickeys Jingle Jungle Parade. It was festive, colorful, fun, and loud! As we watched we made our way back over towards Asia for the 4:30 Flights of Wonder show. Mickey eased us into the preferred seating line, don't ask me how, and we ended up being seating in the 2nd row center with no wait at all. Amazing. The show was delightful as always. The gigantic condor flew directly over us and I felt the brush of its wings. Truly awesome. This show is a must do anytime we are in Animal Kingdom!
We summoned our courage and went back to EE to use our re-entry passes. We were on the ride quickly and had a fun and uneventful 4th ride of the day.
We shopped our way out of the park and headed for the bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We disembarked at the Kidani Village stop and headed to Sanaa to check in for dinner. My Magic Trips pal Dawn was not working, but told us to request Patrick, so we did. (Again Mickey shakes her head, this time because I have online friends that I consider friends- you guys don't think that's weird, do you? I mean, I met Dawn in person once!). Went to the bar to wait. I had Tusker Ale from Kenya. Mickey had an African Starr Mojito. We texted Dawn a pic of us toasting her, taken by Cynthia the Bartender. Dawn said make sure you order the bread service. So once we got to the dinner table, here's what we ordered: Sanaa wine flight for me, Johannesburg wine flight for Mickey. Bread service with 5 types of bread and 5 accompaniments: mango & coconut chutneys, red pepper hummus, garlic pickle, and jalapeño pickle. Salad selections: chick pea something, roasted Beets, bel phur something. Mickeys dinner was tandoori lamb with apple chutney and basmati rice. Mine was Slow cooked butter chicken and beef short ribs with basmati rice. Everything comes in small serving portions, so even though it sounds like a lot it is a manageable amount of food. Every bite and every sip was outstanding, full of rich flavor, juicy and tender, seasoned well. The only things hot & spicy were the garlic & jalapeño bread accompaniments and one of the breads. We were breathing fire on those and loving it. We would have loved to sample some dessert but we had no room left for sweets. We went outside to the Sunset Savannah viewing area and hung out near the fire pit to view the animals. There were about a dozen zebras just doing their zebra thing out there. The moon was full, the air was chilly, and the setting was so beautiful...dare I say magical? I love everything about Sanaa, and it will be a must do from now on! We now want to use our DVC points to stay at Kidani Village on a future trip. that will be amazing!

We headed home on the bus, with a quick stop at Downtown Disneys Marketplace to transfer to an OKW bus. Neither of us had the energy to shop but we will probably return later this week. Fantastic day!
