Day 8 was our last day in the parks and the most magical. That night we drove up to my aunt’s house in Pensacola and then eventually came home. As we always try to do on our last day, we do whatever is left over on our must-do list and try to get our favorites in one more time and Benjamin lead the way…
So, we started at the Epcot Character Spot for one last goodbye to Mickey and the gang.
For the most part, Elizabeth was still not thrilled with the characters until I decided to go to Morocco for lunch and on our way ran into Marie! Marie is by far Elizabeth’s favorite!
(we changed her clothes because I wanted pics of her in her red Minnie outfit at Magic Kingdom later in the day)
It’s sort of a tradition for Joshua and I…I get lunch in Morocco and then we go to the UK and he gets fish and chips…he literally talks about his fish and chips all year long.
After lunch, we met up with Grandma at Hollywood Studios and the most magical moment of our trip. Benjamin was tentatively asking to do Tower of Terror again and we jumped at it hoping that he could walk away from this year’s trip excited about ToT and not afraid. So, first he went with Grandma and he was ok with it so while Grandma stayed with the baby, Benjamin rode with Joshua and I.
As we left the little room where you watch the Twilight Zone video clip and you continue along the line, where you have the option to go straight or turn to the right, everyone in the room we were with went right…so…we went straight…and ended up on an elevator all by ourselves! It was great. And then it got better. The ride ended and a wonderful cast member welcomed us back…when she saw that it was just the three of us, she asked Benjamin if he would like to be a Jr Bell Hop. He wasn’t sure what that meant but he’s a well-trained boy and anytime he’s offered something at Disney, he says yes, please. Across the hall, another elevator door opened and our cast member/magic maker saw an off-duty Bell Hop she knew so she called out to her and asked her to go retrieve a Jr Bell Hop jacket and cap. She did and our son was in heaven!!!
At first he was nervous about doing his job right but he was able to help escort three elevators of guests off and on their way. He LOVED it!
And then, it got even better.
Our cast member/magic maker (I’m kicking myself for not getting her name!...I have a couple pics but none show her name tag) asked us if we’d like to ride again. Of course we said yes and she took us through the back up the cast member elevator to the top.
Once there, the bell hop at the top (and everyone else) saw Benjamin in the Jr Bell Hop outfit and immediately put us at the front of the line…he actually was joking around and told everyone in line that “out of respect for his fellow Bell Hop” he was going to ignore everyone else and let us go on our own…which is exactly what happened…we got to ride alone…again…with Benjamin in the Jr Bell Hop outfit. We all LOVED it. Benjamin was so happy, he forgot he was scared and kept his hands up on his own the entire ride.
The first thing we did we got off the ride again (and returned the Jr Bell Hop outfit) is head straight to the photo area to buy the pic. The first printer didn’t work properly so they moved us to another but while we were shopping for a frame, the original printer spit it out so we ended up walking away with two printed copies.
We left Hollywood Studios on a high and headed to Magic Kingdom one last time. We took a couple pics in front of the castle…
Rode the mountains one last time…
And headed to Casey’s Corner to meet up and say goodbye to our family. Even so, I don’t think it hit Benjamin that we were really leaving until we were at the Ticket and Transportation Center.
He got over it pretty quickly though when we told him we would come back again next year sometime (we’re thinking about trying later in the year and checking out the Christmas Party) so it was all smiles again.
It was a great trip…our favorite so far.
