Who went:
Me-29, Hubby Joshua-31, our son Benjamin-4, our daughter Elizabeth-1
Family-arrived same day: my grandmother-GG, my aunt-Nana, her granddaughter Abby-8 and my cousin Tommy-26
My mom arrived on Day 4 for us due to a work conflict.
Although it wasn’t without a couple disappointing moments, this trip was our absolute favorite family trip so far. We opted to drive overnight and arrived at Caribbean Beach Resort just before 10am Orlando time. Both kids were DONE with their car seats but since our Pirate Room was ready early, we were able to clean up and change clothes which really helped perk us all up.
Unfortunately, it was raining when we arrived and unpacked and on the way to Magic Kingdom but just as we parked at the TTC, the rain cleared up and the sun peeked through. The first things on our MUST DO list were big ones. Our son broke that ever-important 40 inch mark since our last visit so Splash Mtn (hubby’s favorite) and Thunder Mtn (my favorite) were going to be done rain or shine on that first day but first we stopped for a pic at the Castle.
I was so impressed…and a little concerned when Benjamin and I got onto Thunder Mtn and the FIRST thing he did was raise his hands up. He was ready to go. He kept his hands up the whole time with me when we rode in the very front train car and with Joshua when they rode in the very back train car.
(you might notice the R2D2 ears Joshua has on…he was so excited when he saw them so that was our first souvenir of the trip and star wars played a big role throughout)
Then, after a hot dog stop at Casey’s Corner, the boys rode Splash Mtn while Elizabeth and I discovered and re-discovered the joy of cotton candy.
After some shopping and people watching, we met up with the rest of our family who had arrived at the park about an hour after us and we made our way to Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. The food was great and since we were celebrating my cousin’s daughter (Abby)’s 8th birthday, she got a special cupcake at the end of the meal.
By the time the park was filling up for Wishes and extra magic hours we were getting sleepy from the 22 hour drive and the day in Magic Kingdom so we got a couple shots in front of the train station and went back to sleep in our pirate beds.
(Elizabeth was already asleep by the time we wanted to take the train station pics)
Well, that was day one.
I’m hoping to post a trip report for each day…one day at a time but while we were gone, we got a new roof and the internet satellite doesn’t seem to be working properly so please excuse me if I’m not as quick as you expect…
