I was looking through some old VHS tapes yesterday and found the Disney World vacation planning video from 1997, The 25th anniversary of WDW. Here's what I found in the brochures and price guides:
All Star room rate: $69.00 (All Star Movies was not built yet) Port Orleans and Dixie Landings room rate: $114.00 Fort Wilderness Campground: $43.00 Grand Floridian room rate: $284.00 The Villas at Disney Institute: $195.00 Coronado Springs was scheduled to open Summer 1997 Those were the "cheapest" rates for each resort.
DownTown Disney was known as Disney Village Marketplace
Animal Kingdom was still in the future
The Disney Institute was still going strong (DW and I loved the Disney Institute)
We still had Disney-MGM Studios
January 1997 had the 4th annual Walt Disney World Marathon
They still had the Jolly Holiday dinner show at the Contemporary Resort (all-you-can-eat dinner and a really good stage show. Lots of fun with audience interaction)
The castle was decorated as a birthday cake
The Universe of Energy at Epcot was new
They still had River Country and Discovery Island
There was a toll-free number for reservations and information
At the end of the video there is a preview of the new Disney Cruise Line.
This brought back a lot of memories. If I can find our old VCR player, I'm going to watch the tape this weekend.
